We celebrated my mom's birthday while we were in California. I thought in honor of my mom I'd tell you the top 10 things she loves:
10. Chinese Food
9. Doing Laundry, not kidding
8. Washing dishes, again not kidding
7. Cloud cover
6. Fox News
5. 700 Club
4. Sweets, some of her favorites: Peanut Parfait's from DQ, wedding cake, & black licorice
3. Singing in the choir
2. Her family
1. Jesus
This is Nana and some of her grandkids. She is always happiest when the family is all together. She speaks often of wanting us to find a "compound," as she calls it, where we can all to live together....I don't know should I be concerned??? Nana would like us to live there until Jesus returns, which of course, she'd like to be any day now....
My mom, Nana, is one of the most selfless people I know, always willing to help in any situation. It doesn't matter if it's cooking, making beds, stuffing envelopes, caring for children, planning huge events, or scrubbing toilets; she will do what needs to be done. Some of my friends wish she was their mom because she is so helpful around the house. Nana has a great laugh, and is usually up for just about anything....unless it involves water that is....anytime she enters water it's always after saying, "Now, don't get my hair wet!" She turned 72 last year and finally braved the waters of baptism. We were all so proud of her!

Here is Nana with the other half of her grandkids; she takes every chance she can get to be with them. We love Nana and are glad to have her around! Did I mention Nana loves cake, wedding cake is her favorite don't ever ask her leave a wedding before the cake is cut! My sister found a great buttercream frosting recipe and made a box cake to go with it. The frosting is amazing. If you are in need of a good buttercream give this one a try; you'll be glad you did.
Buttercream Frosting
Inspired by: Paula Dean
4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
3 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Whip butter until light & fluffy,
add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time. Add milk and vanilla. Add more milk if
needed to get desired consistency.
Note: Sifting
the powdered sugar will insure no lumps in your frosting. If you don’t care
about lumps; don’t worry about sifting.

I love this post and your MOM! Those friends who wish they could adopt Carol, I am one of them. Carol you are a gem and I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate life with you. When I think of Carol I think of Jesus - talking about him, singing to him, crying out to him and making sure everyone knows about him and his return. T
